I can feel it!!

It is beginning to look {I hate to say this out loud} like Christmas! I have been decorating already and having a blast! I know. I am pathetic!! LOL! But I love this holiday! Just like Halloween...it is a time to make believe..to create spaces that emote magic and dreams!!!!!Ahh! The wonder in a child's eyes! Makes all the work worth while. This is Joy and she is one of my reborn baby dolls. Isn't she the cutiest!! She loves taking the decorations off the tree. Little bugger!This is one of my paintings...."Catch a Falling Star"! And of course if you catch the star; you should put it into your pocket.

As you can see I used handmade paper; buttons; stars cut out of vintage book and a vintage map. Just to name of few of the components of this painting! I love the feel of this piece. Hope you enjoy it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I will be spending the holiday with my son and his wife and my five grandchildren. I am so looking forward to it. They live in Gallup, NM which is about a three hour drive....west of us! Got a book on tape..so we are ready to go.
I purchased a 26 lb. turkey, two large pumpkin pies; whipped cream, of course, and sushi!! We all love sushi so I thought that would be a great appetizer!
Here is a pic of my son, Lee Sr. His wife, Ginger {in the middle} and my oldest granddaughter, Lisa. She is attending New Mexico State University in Las Cruses, NM.

Another Mind Wide Open Challenge!!

I love doing the Mind Wide Open Challenges! They do stretch your creative wings and it is just plain fun. The picture Gail gave us to start with is this....


And the piece I made from this picture is this....



I used an old clock and fastened the picture (which I made into a transfer) to the clock face; which I had covered in handmade paper. Surround the clock with ghost leaves, a dried flower and beads. I added a little steam-punk with gears and a wonderful brass bee. An adorable butterfly (cloisonne) and a brass key. Then there is the adorable canary inside and he seems perfectly content now!!
The key phrase was "Paris in Spring".

This was her first trip to Paris and she was totally captivated by the sights and sounds of the city. She felt like a canary in a cage as she surveyed her surroundings and sighed. It is all so beautiful!! And then she saw him. Standing under the Eiffel Tower. He was so amazing to look at and then she noticed he was smiling at her. This is how they met and they have been together since. Oh! How wonderful she felt inside. So free and content! He made her feel special and protected. Sarah knew she would never leave Paris as this is where she belonged. In this city and by his side. Forever!!

She is always with me!!

Above is a personal shrine I complete awhile ago and I just wanted to share. It reminds me of Mother's Day and I really don't know why. It measures 4 inches wide and 8 inches tall.
She was just 14 at the time of this photo! So grown up...so elegant. Hi mom!
This is a series of transfer prints on canvas..it so evokes the era for me. Elegant mom!!
