Another Mind Wide Open Challenge!!

I love doing the Mind Wide Open Challenges! They do stretch your creative wings and it is just plain fun. The picture Gail gave us to start with is this....


And the piece I made from this picture is this....



I used an old clock and fastened the picture (which I made into a transfer) to the clock face; which I had covered in handmade paper. Surround the clock with ghost leaves, a dried flower and beads. I added a little steam-punk with gears and a wonderful brass bee. An adorable butterfly (cloisonne) and a brass key. Then there is the adorable canary inside and he seems perfectly content now!!
The key phrase was "Paris in Spring".

This was her first trip to Paris and she was totally captivated by the sights and sounds of the city. She felt like a canary in a cage as she surveyed her surroundings and sighed. It is all so beautiful!! And then she saw him. Standing under the Eiffel Tower. He was so amazing to look at and then she noticed he was smiling at her. This is how they met and they have been together since. Oh! How wonderful she felt inside. So free and content! He made her feel special and protected. Sarah knew she would never leave Paris as this is where she belonged. In this city and by his side. Forever!!

She is always with me!!

Above is a personal shrine I complete awhile ago and I just wanted to share. It reminds me of Mother's Day and I really don't know why. It measures 4 inches wide and 8 inches tall.
She was just 14 at the time of this photo! So grown up...so elegant. Hi mom!
This is a series of transfer prints on canvas..it so evokes the era for me. Elegant mom!!

The Resurrection

It was night.........
It was day............
Therefore, the sky was filled
With the sun, moon and stars.

The Word of God
The Perfect atonement
A tree clothes in purple;
Capped with a golden crown.

Carried the worst of man,
Jeered by the best of Satan.
The agony so deep;
The sacrifice so complete.

The tree split........
The red thorns pierced........
The blood gushed towards hell;
Crushing death, disease...despair.

Jeweled covered Angels,
Sun, melting the sky.
Shirring the cloth-bound Holy of Holies;
Piercing the flowery traditions of man.

Death has no power........
Sin has no hold........
The earth could not contain;
He who framed it's very life.

Mind Wide Open Challenge - April

What a wonderful challenge Gail presented to us this time around. A terrific photo print and the prompt work was "moments". To cast your vote, go to Mind Wide Open .

She walked on the beach. Just like they used to do. The sand felt so cool and the waves crashing brought her back to those moments. Walking hand in hand...together. Sharing the stillness of the early evening; sharing secrets...kissing. Oh these moments were so precious to her and now they are gone. She looks out on the water and remembers those moments. There is such a void in her life right now. Shedding a tear, she heads back to her car. Leaving the beach to it's memories.
