WIP ~ Fiber Sculpture ~ Day Six

Back at it and it is coming along beautiful.  The tubes are attached and I have begun to cut the strips of fabric that will be used to cover them.  Here are some pics....

These tubes are made of buckrum (which is used to make hats) and filled with poly fill.  They are hand sewn on so that they will be stable and secure.

This fabric will be stitched together and attached to the tube.

This will give you an idea of how colorful this will be!  After I attach the fabric to the tubes, I will cover the fabric with a product called "Stiffy".  Which is a fabric stiffener.  This will allow me to shape it to the tubes.  Then I will, above these tubes, start attaching the handmade paper that I have already shown you.

Have a magical and blessed day!
Hugging you
SueAnn

Do you see the end result in your mind before you start or does it comes together as you begin to put pieces together?

What an incredibly involved process... a labor of love to be sure.

Love the silk fleur de lis fabric! How rich!

I really don't know how you do it. I'd have quit after the fist fifteen minutes.

Can't wait to see the finished project. It's going to be SO lovely.

Go, SueAnn, go!

I haven't been commenting, but I have been watching the sculpture grow with great interest. When I first saw it, I fell in love with the rose patterned material (did I tell you I love things Victorian), and I can't wait to see what you eventually unveil.

The red and golds are stunning. It's so nice that you let us see the process-- especially for us "creatively challenged" readers. It amazes me!

Thanks and have a great long weekend,
