Well actually, we had Bratwurst, and Special Hamburgers on the grill. Special Hamburgers consisted of Fresh Ground Beef, mustard and onion, salt and pepper...mixed together and pattied. Yum!! Also on the menu was homemade mustard potato salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, and for dessert, S'Mores and Lemon Bars. Oh and for snacks, Hot Bean Dip and Multi-Grain Taco Chips. Also yummy!!
Bean Dip:
1 - 8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
1 - 15 oz. can of Bush's Grillin' Beans
1 - 8 to 10 oz of Salsa
1 1/2 cups of Grated Cheese of Choice ( Cheddar, Colby Jack, etc.)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray of 9 to 10 inches square non-stick pan or pie plate with non stick cooking spray. Spread the cream cheese evenly on the bottom of this dish. (I used a back of a tablespoon). Then, drain the beans but do not rinse and spread them over the cream cheese. Pour salsa on top of the beans..covering the beans.
Place into preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes or until the edges begin to bubble. Remove from oven, add\the shredded cheese (enough to cover the salsa). Place back into oven for about 5 - 6 minutes or until melted. Remove from oven and serve with Taco Chips. I used Multi-Grain Taco Chips. Really yummers!!
No body went away hungry and the Lemon Bars were a big hit as well! Of course, the S'Mores are always popular with young and old. I personally love them. Ha!!
The the rest of the day we watched movies... Twister, Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde II. Old and fun movies. Grandpa Dr. John and Lee, Jr. went out and shot the BB gun and pop cans and then spent about an hour in the hot tub!! Everybody went to bed with smiles on their faces!! Grin!!
This all happened on Sunday! On Saturday, our helper came over and we weeded the front patio and the back patio. This job was endless, thankless and we all got it done!! Looks so much better. The weeds were so high!!! Probably two feet tall!! Whew!! Now totally weed free! Gotta love it!' Pictures next week.
The rock garden is looking lush and fabulous. I had planted with drought tolerant plants and it has been so successful!!
There was a fabulous sunrise Saturday morning..
The wildflowers have been blooming like crazy. I showed you the cactus. These, name unknown, start out yellow and then turn orange!! Amazing...
The skies in and around my home and the city have been filled with smoke from the Arizona fires! It has been so windy that added to the smoke is all the weeds, pollen and silt! For an asthmatic, me, it has been really difficult!! Just saying!! My exercise schedule is totally messed up...but as my sweet Dr. John reminds me, breathing is much more important...sigh!! So I relax, used my nebulizer and oxygen. Out of doors is off limits to me pretty much as well. Oh well...I keep busy with my collages..and that is endlessly fascinating.
Things could definitely be worse.
On Friday, I walked out the door in the morning and the skies were thick with smoke! So I quickly got into the car and put it on recirculate air/conditioner and took off to get my granddaughter, Cassie. She is living in town now and that is way cool. We went shopping at Walmart and I got all the fixings for the cook out. Then we unloaded back at the house and the smoke had pretty much blown away. We then went into town and went to the Olive Garden...oh yeah!! Ha!
And right across the street is Hobby Lobby. So we had to go there and see what was on sale. We shopped and while there I noticed I had broken a nail. Darn!! So we went to the Nail Salon and I got my nail repaired. Then I took her home and I came home. Whew! I was exhausted. It is hard to get around. Sigh!!
Well, shopping, cookout and driving around and company; I am pooped. I need a nap!! Ha! So I think I have Randomed enough today!! Don't forget to stop over to Stacy's at
Stacy Uncorked and see what other Randomizers are up too!! All fun to read!! And isn't it about time you joined in? The more the merrier!!
Have a magical and blessed day!
Hugging you,
SueAnn
